Hope - Day 5 - Faith-Based Advent Activity

Craft a Blessing Bookmark

Supplies

a.     Cardstock or construction paper – use white or a light color.  If you have a Cricut machine, consider using faux leather or an acrylic bookmark.  Many craft stores (like Michaels or Hobby Lobby) have acrylic bookmarks.  They may not have them in-store, but you can order them.  Also, you can order them on Amazon.  Same goes for faux leather.

b.     Pencil

c.      Black marker

d.     Colored pencils or crayons

e.     Ribbon

f.       Hole punch

Directions

a.     Cut your cardstock or construction paper into a 2”x 6” rectangle.  Punch a hole at the top of the rectangle.

b.     Use a pencil to design your bookmark.  Make the word “HOPE” the central point of your bookmark.

c.      Decorate your bookmark with doodles – flowers, zentangles (search “how to make zentangle bookmarks” to see how to incorporate zentangles into your bookmark).

d.     Once you’ve finished with your design, draw over the pencil marks with a fine tip black marker.  Erase the pencil marks.  Color the bookmark as desired.

e.     Write a message of hope on the back to the person that you want to bless.

f.  Optional -- if you have a laminator, consider laminating your bookmark to make it more sturdy.

g.  Add a ribbon to the bookmark.

h.     Give the bookmark to the person you wish to bless.
