Day 2: Rainbows -- Genesis 9:14

Day 2

Rainbows

Genesis 9:14

Day 2 is all about Rainbow Gratitude.  Our verse for today is Genesis 9:14 -- "Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds..."

Most of us feel an overwhelming gratitude when we see a rainbow.  We're immediately transported back to our childhood, as we remember the story of Noah's Ark and his covenant with God.  So my question to you today is when was the last time you experienced a rainbow gratitude?  What were you grateful for?  And what did you do with that gratitude?

Here is my tag for today:

I chose a blank tag (one that I hadn't precolored).  Since clouds and rainbows are the two main words in this verse, I drew a cloud and then used my colored pencils to draw a rainbow at the bottom.  Around the cloud, I used blue distress ink for the sky.

For my meditation on this, I found a quote from Maya Angelou:  "Be a rainbow in someone else's cloud."  This quote reminds me of two things.  One, that every day I should strive to be a positive influence in someone's life -- especially those who are going through trials -- the clouds of life.  And two, that even though we don't always see the rainbow in a situation, it's always there.  It's just hiding behind the cloud.

Remember..."I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth."  (Genesis 9:11 NIV)
