Determined & Flesh

1 Corinthians 15:38-39 (NIV)

But God gives it a body as he has determined, and to each kind of seed he gives its own body.  Not all flesh is the same: People have one kind of flesh, animals have another, birds another and fish another.

In these verses, Paul is focusing on God -- the one who give each body life.  It is not the one that plants the seed and tends to it that created it, it is God who gives it life.  And the body that God gives it is determined by Him.  The four types of flesh that Paul mentions are the same four that are mentioned in Genesis during the Creation story.  And also note that Paul mentions the types in the same order that they were created in Genesis.  Just as God designed our bodies for the type of environment that we would live in (man and animals walk on the earth, birds fly in the sky, and fish swim in the waters), our resurrected bodies are designed for heaven.
