Day 23
All in All
1 Corinthians 15:28
When he has done this, then the Son
himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God
may be all in all.
Psalm 110:1 says, The Lord says to my lord: "Sit
at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet." In verse 28, Paul
continues his message from the previous verses explaining to the Corinthians that Christ is sitting at
God's right hand until all of His enemies have been defeated. Paul is also bringing the important message
that all power and dominion belongs to God.
Remember that even while Christ was on earth in human form, he was
subject to God. ("Thy will be
done" implies that Christ was not in charge of what was to happen to
himself, rather God was.) Paul is
inferring that Christ holds equal authority as God. Not until the Second Coming, when all enemies
have been defeated, will He become subordinate to God, so that "God may be
all in all."
Jesus is our intermediary to God.
He is our strength, the one whom we seek. He took our sin upon the cross. When we fail, when there's nothing left in
our souls, he picks us up. He is the
Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. And he is worthy of our praise. He is our "all in all."
