Day 4: April 4th
Appeared
1 Corinthians 15:6-7 (NIV)
After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at
the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James.
During
these first three days, we have looked at the importance of the gospels and the
scriptures and how key it was for people to understand that Jesus died and was
raised from the dead to save us from our sins.
We also have heard that Jesus appeared to Peter and the apostles.
Today
we continue to hear about Jesus appearing -- proving that he has risen from the
dead. He appeared to more than five
hundred at one time and he appeared to James. As we continue our journey during the
remainder of the fifty days towards Jesus' ascension and the day of Pentecost,
it will be important for us to remember that Jesus appeared. For those that Jesus appeared to, they would
not see him again after his ascension into heaven. They had to cling to Jesus' promise that
death is not the final victory, but that if we believe in His resurrection
salvation, we, too, will be raised from the dead to be with Him in heaven. And this is the promise that we hold to.
As
you read today's scripture verses, think about the many people
that were there to witness Jesus' appearances.
How would you have reacted? Would
you recognize him?
Prayer:
Breathe
in...My Risen Lord
Breathe
out...appear to me as I walk this journey called "life" with you.
