The Great Fifty Days of Easter - Day 17 - April 17th

Day 17
Man/Mankind/Humankind
1 Corinthians 15:21 (NIV)

For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man.

We're talking about the original sin, and the punishment that God portioned out to Adam...By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return. (Genesis 3:19 NIV)  This curse, this punishment, meant death not only for Adam, but for his descendents.  His ultimate death was not just physical death, but also spiritual death.  So what does this have to do with the argument that Paul has been having with the Corinthians about the resurrection?  Through Jesus' resurrection, Adam's curse has been reversed.  Death came through a human (Adam), but resurrection came through a human also -- Jesus Christ.
