The Great Fifty Days of Easter - Day 14 - April 14th

Day 14 - April 14th

Lost

1 Corinthians 15:18 (NIV)

Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost.

Lost...destroyed...perished...unsaved.  This is Paul's third logical point:  "If you have fallen asleep in Christ, then you are lost."  And, again, let's turn it around:  "If you are AWAKE in Christ, then you are found, saved, blessed."  Throughout Paul's dialogue during these first verses of 1 Corinthians 15, his argument is with individuals who believe in the Greek philosophy that was being taught.  But he is also talking to the Corinthians as a community, especially to those who are already followers of The Way.  Isn't he encouraging them to not fall asleep (become dead in Christ) so that they won't be lost?  Isn't he encouraging them to "wake up" and worship the Risen Savior?  And isn't this what so many of our churches today are lacking -- people willing to look beyond the four walls of their church and wake up each morning ready to go out into the world and share the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Activity:  Just for fun, listen to Pepper Choplin's tongue-in-cheek anthem, "Wake Up, Church, Wake Up."

So let's all rise and shine, and give God the glory, glory.
Rise and shine, and give God the glory, glory.

Rise and shine, and give God the glory, glory.

Children of the Lord.
